Trevor (Basher) Wright

After Cosford I was posted to RAF Stanbridge and spent lots of time pushing murry code tapes, working funny shifts and discovering Leighton Buzzard pubs.

Things then brightened up, emergency standby and a detachment to Munjunga in Madagasca, 42 Sqn Shacks and the famous Purple!!! spent 6 months there and back to Stanbridge.

A posting to Gan, station sigs, a few trips on the marine craft and a det with Anglia television to help make "Lonely Airman of Coral Command" a very enjoyable time.

RAF Lindholme was my next port of call and then 3 years at 2ATAF near Maastricht living in Tongeren, Belgium, working with NATO. RAF Marham was my last sane posting before the ROT set in, Digby, North Luffenham and then a posting to 9 Sigs Reg (1974) where the army unsuccessfully tried to turn me into a soldier, gun and all. I qualified as a BSAC 2nd class diver and finally got posted back to Digby 591 SU, lots of enjoyable detachments including one on HMS Ark Royal.

At this time I had an interest in motorcycles and started buying, doing up and selling them at profit, I ran the business from my house. Demob time arrived and I opened a motorcycle shop in Worksop, a Kawasaki agency, MOT station with a workshop, Keith Pike bought a couple from me, I then opened a branch at Horncastle and a butchers in Bracebridge and after 12 years sold all and retired. I now buy and sell a few cars and do the odd driving job. I'm still interested in amateur radio (G0LZS)do a bit of fly-fishing and bird watching. That's about it.
